This evening, Congressman Bill Pascrell (D-NJ) offered a priviledged resolution in the House of Representatives calling on President Trump to release his tax returns so that the American people can have a clear understanding of his business ties, potential conflicts of interest, and the national security threats they may pose. But instead of acting to provide a check on President Trump and demand his honesty on behalf of the American people, House Republicans voted unanimously to keep his tax returns secret, faithfully doing his bidding instead of serving the public interest.
The DCCC released the following statement in response:
“House Republicans’ unanimous vote to keep President Trump’s tax returns a secret from the American people further demonstrates where their allegiances lie. Not only are House Republicans helping President Trump avoid even a modicum of transparency, they are aiding and abetting him in hiding potential conflicts of interest that could threaten our national security. This is a disturbing state of affairs,” said Meredith Kelly of the DCCC.
