House Republicans Vote to Fund Trump’s “Iran Trap”

Polling shows the war in Iran is as unpopular as Iraq and Vietnam wars – and every single vulnerable Republican supports it

House Republicans passed Trump’s ‘America Last’ budget today, greenlighting the unchecked spending of billions of taxpayer dollars towards a war that has caused gas prices to skyrocket, cost American lives, and has no end in sight.

The war is also causing increasing anxiety for Republican strategists who are openly warning the party that it will sink any sliver of hope they have in the midterms.

Politico reports:

The U.S. and Iran are escalating strikes. More U.S. service members are dead. Gas prices are again on the rise. The administration’s diplomatic off-ramp appears to be narrowing. And Republicans working to preserve their congressional majorities are beginning to contemplate a scenario they once viewed as unthinkable: a full-scale war still dominating the political landscape in November.

“We’re preparing for the bottom to fall out,” a GOP operative working on midterm races told Playbook.

REMINDER: Since the war started, gas prices have skyrocketed, housing costs have gone up, and life has become more and more expensive. Instead of passing meaningful legislation to deliver relief to hardworking families, House Republicans have decided their summer of discontent would be to double down on following Donald Trump over the electoral cliff, and reminding voters that Republicans do not care about the American people – a message that will cost them the majority.

DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
“Americans are begging for relief from the ever increasing cost-of-living crisis they face – but all House Republicans are delivering is more war, higher gas prices, and higher costs for the foreseeable future. Voters are sick and tired of Republicans’ broken promises and ready to reject them in November.”
