“Huge, Ugly Mess”: Valadao’s Wildly Unpopular Vote to Gut Medicaid

Poll after poll shows David Valadao’s devastating vote to strip health care from over 65,000 people and gut food assistance for more than 60,000 households in his district – all to hand massive tax breaks to billionaires – is catching up with him.
  • Pew Research found that over half of Americans say the GOP Tax Scam would have a negative impact on our country, and a majority say it will HURT middle-class and low-income families.
  • Washington Post/Ipsos poll found that Americans oppose the legislation by nearly 2 to 1.
  • 64% said they opposed it in a recent KFF Health Tracking Poll.
This scorching feedback comes after Valadao repeatedly promised he wouldn’t touch Medicaid, voted YES on the bill, and then spent the last few weeks begging the Senate to clean up his mistakes.

Remember: Valadao has been here before. He voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act in 2017, which also would have kicked millions off their health care. That vote cost him his seat in 2018

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“While Valadao scrambles to cover his tracks, the Central Valley won’t forget how he screwed them over, ripping away health care to give tax breaks to his wealthy pals. Valadao will answer again for his wildly unpopular mistakes in 2026.”
