Stefanik slammed previous opponent for staying neutral in 2014 New York gubernatorial race, but now she’s doing the same in her own party’s presidential primary
While Trump continues to put New York House Republicans like Elise Stefanik between a rock and a hard place, he is also exposing blatant hypocrisies and doublespeak.
So far, Stefanik has been playing it safe in the Republican presidential primary [see “dumpster fire”], refusing to make an endorsement and instead hiding behind the ever-so-neutral statement, “She [Stefanik] looks forward to supporting the Republican nominee this fall.”
BUT – Stefanik publicly slammed her Democratic opponent in 2014 for playing neutral in the New York gubernatorial Democratic primary.
In a Stefanik campaign press release from 2014, a spokeswoman slammed Stefanik’s Democratic opponent, “In his first election voting in the 21st District since moving from Manhattan, Aaron Woolf needs to come clean and tell voters who he supports in the New York gubernatorial elections.”
“Paul Ryan’s spin doctor Elise Stefanik won’t even endorse whoever will be her party’s next standard-bearer, but when she ran for Congress she slammed her opponent for playing neutral in the state’s gubernatorial contest. Hypocrisy much?” said Bryan Lesswing. “Once again, Stefanik is at war with herself and her doublespeak embodies exactly what voters hate about Washington.”
