Tenney Admits She’s a Disaster
With friends like these, who needs enemies?
Last week in a visit with the Evening Sun, failed former Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, who just last week threatened to sue a student journalist, admitted what Upstate New York voters have known for a long time: she’s not very good at this. Tenney revealed that when she goes to her DC consultant or friends on other campaigns they give her a little too much honesty.
When asked how she communicates with voters Tenney said:
And if I could put a list together of every horrible adjective you could come up with to describe someone, almost every week there is some article where I’m horrible, Trump’s horrible, everything’s horrible. I’ve had numerous people come in from other campaigns, other media people and consultants, and they all say the same thing. They say, ‘you get the worst press of any member of Congress I have ever seen.”
Note: Once called a “national embarrassment” by a fellow Republican, press has noted her “history of controversial remarks” and her “divisive rhetoric.” Even Republican operatives agreed that Tenney’s “bombastic reputation” contributed to her election loss in 2018, with one saying: “every week she says something controversial or stupid. These are self-inflected wounds.” “Disaffected Republicans” ended up being “a major problem for Tenney.” And Tenney has not changed her style this cycle.
“It’s not the press that’s the problem, it’s the candidate,” said DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett.
