ICYMI: Brandon Williams’ Dismissive and Confrontational Town Halls Spark Concern Among Voters

Williams “stifles” his constituents, gets in “heated” and “tense” exchanges, and insists he represents the federal government rather than NY-22

Last week proved to be rough for highly-vulnerable Republican Rep. Brandon Williams, who – after months of failing to hold any town halls since being elected – held meetings in which central New Yorkers were met with dismissive behavior, confrontational exchanges, and questionable comments that are leaving voters in NY-22 concerned with their “representation” in Congress.

On Monday night in Chittenango, Williams kicked off last week’s town hall tour by refusing to explain to concerned New Yorkers just why he’s refusing to support efforts to reduce gun violence and protect New Yorkers’ safety, leading to a “heated” back and forth.

The next day in Rome, Williams was met with demonstrators at his town hall where “attendees were not allowed to ask direct questions to Williams.” At one point, Williams even got into a “tense exchange” with a constituent who had to remind Williams exactly who he was elected to represent after Williams admits his loyalties lie with his radical party bosses in Washington.

Rounding out Williams’ tour on Thursday in Morrisville, Williams once again refused to let his constituents ask him direct questions, and immediately fled the event, ignoring every constituent afterwards who had come to share their concerns with their elected representative. One central New Yorker at the event even said Williams “has little or no interest in knowing what we think.”

If Central New Yorkers learned anything last week from these town halls, it’s that Brandon Williams is not the representative they deserve.

DCCC Spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre:
“Brandon Williams is a serious disappointment to central New York. His decision to dismiss, disrespect, and belittle the concerns of his own constituents prove just how undeserving he is to represent these voters in Congress.”
