Last night, Rep. Jeff Denham finally held a public town hall – or as the Modesto Bee’s editorial board called it, “An overdue earful from angry constituents.”
Denham was asked about the reckless Republican repeal bill that would’ve forced 24 million Americans off their health care, imposed an unfair age tax on older Americans, and jacked up premiums and out of pocket health care costs. He also heard from constituents upset about his refusal to compel President Trump to release his tax returns and compared his constituents’ reasonable request to see President Trump’s tax returns to President Trump’s lies about President Obama’s birth certificate.
“Congressman Denham can’t defend Republican efforts to rip health care away from millions or President Trump’s refusal to release his tax returns because they’re indefensible,” said Patrick Burgwinkle, DCCC spokesperson. “The problem with Washington Republicans is they are still trying to take health care away from Californians and refuse to hold President Trump accountable. Congressman Denham is part of the problem and his constituents know it.”
