Yesterday, as Paul Ryan was announcing his retirement, Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers woke up to some more fun news back home. The Spokesman-Review, the largest paper in Eastern Washington, declared that she was headed for a ‘bruising race’ on the front page of Wednesday’s paper. This is consistent with previous polling from the DCCC that showed the race within 5 points. DCCC spokesperson Drew Godinich released the following statement:
“Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers is learning that being a member of the DC leadership team that cut taxes for the wealthy, raised health care premiums, exploded the deficit, and put Medicare and Social Security cuts on the table is a liability, not an asset.”
