California Republicans Jeff Denham (CA-10) and David Valadao (CA-21) have repeatedly promised to move comprehensive immigration reform forward, but neither has been successful even with their Party’s control of Congress.
Over the weekend Denham and Valadao once again paid lip service to constituents despite voting last week for a Speaker of the House who took immigration reform off the table before taking the gavel. In contrast, former Speaker John Boehner at least left open the possibility of reform as recently as this summer.
“Actions have consequences, in this case for the people of the Central Valley. Congressmen Valadao and Denham voted for Paul Ryan as Speaker, and in doing so put a man in charge of the House that has vowed to not pursue comprehensive immigration reform,” said Barb Solish of the DCCC. “Voters won’t accept Valadao and Denham’s empty promises anymore.”
