ICYMI: Congressional Candidate Scott Jones Loses Endorsement, Faces Local Blowback After Saying He’s Voting for Trump [FOX40, Sacramento Bee]
“The negative consequences – lost endorsements, outrage from local leaders – of Scott Jones’ support for Trump has just begun. Jones is on the Trump ticket, and he will have to answer for his Presidential pick’s reckless and hateful comments every day until the election,” said Barb Solish of the DCCC.
FOX 40: Congressional Candidate Sheriff Scott Jones Loses Endorsement After Saying He’s Voting for Trump
Sacramento Sheriff Scott Jones lost a major endorsement in his bid for California’s 7th Congressional District. The Teamsters Joint Council No. 7 pulled their support for Jones after he said he would vote for Donald Trump.
…
But then Jones announced that he would be voting for Trump in the presidential race, although he stopped short of endorsing him. Still that changed the Teamsters’ minds. The president of that organization sent a letter to Jones pulling their endorsement.
“We think Mr. Trump is an anathema to everything we believe in… While we’re willing to endorse Republicans from time to time, Mr. Trump, from our perspective, is just beyond the pale,” Broad told FOX40.

Sacramento Bee: Opinion: Phil Serna, many others pile on Scott Jones over Trump
Add Sacramento County Supervisor Phil Serna to the list of people who can’t take that Republican congressional candidate Scott Jones has vowed to back presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump.
In a letter circulated by Serna and signed by a bunch of Democrats, including Assemblyman Kevin McCarty, Sen. Richard Pan and Sacramento mayoral candidate Darrell Steinberg, they insist Jones’ “decision to support someone as stridently bigoted as Donald Trump is inexcusable.”
Sheriff Jones got a similar message last week from the Teamsters Joint Council 7. The union withdrew its endorsement in the race against Democratic Rep. Ami Bera for Sacramento County’s 7th Congressional District. Given Trump’s racist, sexist and plain-old divisive remarks, it’s tough to imagine he’s worth the trouble.
