Once again, John Gibbs is spreading election lies and demonstrating that he’s an extremist who cannot represent West Michigan in Congress. After previously questioning the integrity of his Republican primary days before the election, Gibbs made it clear this week that he may not accept the results of the general election if he doesn’t like them.
These comments come as no surprise as Gibbs has a history of denying election results when it’s convenient for him. He is a devout supporter of the “Big Lie” conspiracy theory, falsely claiming the 2020 election was stolen and refusing to say that Biden was freely and fairly elected president. Gibbs has made clear that he is a threat to democracy and would support throwing out West Michiganders’ votes if an election doesn’t go his way.

But Meijer was defeated in his Michigan GOP primary this year by Trump-backed challenger Gibbs, a former software engineer who falsely purports that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.

But, echoing Trump, Gibbs left open the possibility that he may object to the results of his own election next month.

“If it’s fair and everything’s on the up and up, I’ll accept whatever the result is,” he said. But asked if he could define fair, Gibbs replied, “Not at this point.”

“We’ll just have to kind of see how it goes,” he said.

“I don’t apologize. I never have and will not,” he [Gibbs] said.
