“I will never leave that woman,” “I will always take care of her.”
Extreme, far-right and dangerous, Marjorie Taylor Greene is now at the center of the Republican party and at the right hand of Kevin McCarthy. A new report from the New York Times details how Kevin McCarthy has fully embraced Marjorie Taylor Greene – a congresswoman who has attended white supremacist rallies, touted dangerous QAnon conspiracy theories, threatened violence, and was and still is a lead advocate for Donald Trump and the coup attempt he incited – as a lead policy advisor and top ally.
Among the numerous claims detailing the pair’s close bond:
McCarthy reportedly said, “I will never leave that woman,” […] “I will always take care of her.”
McCarthy said, “If you’re going to be in a fight, you want Marjorie in your foxhole,” […] “we’re going to stick together all the way through.”
Talking about McCarthy’s embrace of her agenda, Rep. Greene said “if he sticks to it, will easily vindicate me and prove I moved the conference to the right during my first two years when I served in the minority with no committees.”
Rep. Greene was “unflinching in her support” for McCarthy in the speakership race, was granted top committee spots in exchange for her support, and is influencing Mr. McCarthy’s policy agenda.
DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia
“Kevin McCarthy and House Republicans’ eager embrace of Marjorie Taylor Greene is not just shameful, it’s dangerous. Every single Republican that supported McCarthy becoming Speaker as he appeased Marjorie Taylor Greene, and willingly tethered themselves to the two’s far-right agenda, is equally responsible for enabling the dangerous conspiracy theories and extremism that Greene stands for.”
