Mica’s “Thug” Gun Letter to President Obama Sparks Backlash
Congressman John Mica sends insensitive, potentially racist, letter to President Obama ahead of CNN Town hall on gun violence prevention
ICYMI: Congressman John Mica’s letter telling the nation’s first African American President that he’d be better off meeting with “young thugs” in predominately black cities like Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit and New Orleans triggered a number of negative reactions over the week. Congressman Mica’s ten point plan also urged President Obama to take on few initiatives including “produce a video directed at young men, explaining the responsibilities of fatherhood and the proper respect for human life.” A few reactions are listed below:
