Mike Erickson (OR-06) is under fire for his “dishonesty-filled” attacks which falsely claim that Andrea Salinas, the Democratic nominee for Oregon’s 6th Congressional District, voted to defund the police. CNN’s Daniel Dale found Erickson’s claims to be astonishingly “deceptive” for the way they “falsely describe[s] bills” Salinas supported as a legislator.
Specifically, Dale writes that “none of the three state bills [Erickson’s] ad cites as supposed evidence actually defunded the police.” In fact, Salinas is on the record calling for just the opposite, saying she “would never take away the resources for our law enforcement or our first responders to do their jobs and do them well.” And earlier this year, Salinas supported a $34 million increase for state police funding.
Erickson has recently faced criticism for his many other lies, including about abortion and tolling.
DCCC Spokesperson Teddy Lake:
“Mike Erickson is willing to do anything to get elected – except tell the truth, apparently.”
