Owens above 50%, cementing fact that Love’s reelection chances are dropping
A Salt Lake Tribune-Hinckley Institute poll released Friday provides further evidence for what we’ve known since the beginning of the cycle: this is going to be one closest and must watch races of the year. The poll showed Owens leading Love 51% to 45%. Love’s favorability ratings were underwater with 39% approving and 40% disapproving.
In 2014, Owens narrowly lost to Love after getting into the race late and being outspent by more than 5:1 ($5,060,845 to $865,393). That’s not the case this time around. Owens got into the race much earlier and has proven an ability to outraise Love. Love has also had several high profile missteps involving the misuse of taxpayer money.
