The Newsday editorial board has endorsed Robert Zimmerman in New York’s 3rd Congressional District, calling him a “Democrat with clear priorities and a path to getting them done.”
Newsday cited Zimmerman’s clear positions on everything from reproductive freedom to common sense gun reform, and said that “his experience gives him a deep understanding of the enormous issues facing the district.”
Newsday did not mince words on the subject of extremist George Santos – calling his bailouts to Jan 6th insurrectionists “disturbing” and citing his “distressing” comments comparing abortion to slavery. According to Newsday, Santos “has pivoted to platitudes and vague promises, with few specific plans or ideas.”
Santos rejected numerous attempts to schedule a meeting with the editorial board; however, they were clear that “he has said enough to show himself to be too extreme to skillfully or appropriately represent Long Island in Congress.”
DCCC Spokesperson Ian Clarke:
“Robert Zimmerman is a fierce advocate for Long Island communities and clearly stands for the principles that matter to this district. George Santos is one of the most extreme candidates running for Congress and is a serious danger to Long Island families. The contrast in this election could not be any clearer.”
