Poliquin refusal to denounce LePage’s Narcan veto shows tacit approval, just like Poliquin’s refusal to denounce Donald Trump’s dangerous views
While state lawmakers came together on Friday to override Governor Paul LePage’s notorious Narcan veto, Bruce Poliquin once again hid under his desk.
In an interview with Ken & Mike on Friday morning, Poliquin shamefully dodged a simple question on whether or not he supported the Governor’s veto.
This isn’t the first time Poliquin has relied on his pattern of hiding under his desk when faced with a simple question:
- Poliquin’s “uncomfortable pause” on Donald Trump – in which Poliquin ran for an elevator instead of answering a simple question about his own party’s presumptive presidential nominee.
- Earlier this year, Poliquin shamefully refused to comment on racist remarks made by his mentor, Governor Paul LePage.
- Last fall, Poliquin awkwardly refused to confirm or deny that former House Speaker John Boehner had organized a fundraiser for him on Mount Desert Island.
“Bruce Poliquin’s refusal to comment on Governor LePage’s notorious Narcan veto is deeply troubling, and we can only determine that his silence means tacit approval – just like his refusal to denounce Donald Trump’s dangerous views that insult women and make our country less safe,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “By hiding under his desk when faced with simple questions on Trump and LePage, Poliquin demonstrates that he is too afraid to stand up to bullies like Trump and LePage – and can’t be trusted to do what’s right for his constituents.”

BP: It’s a state issue, Mike.
Host: I know that I totally know that I just wanted to know your personal opinion.
BP: My personal opinion is that I have had family members who have died as a result of addiction. I am very involved at the federal level with this opioid and heroin epidemic we have, trying to get as much help from Washington as we can for our state. But the specific issue you are talking about Mike it would be wrong for me to interject.
Host (interrupting): No it wouldn’t Bruce come on!
BP: Well it’s a state issue.
Host: I know it’s a state issue. What you don’t have opinion on it?
BP: I will tell you this, we need to make sure our borders are secured.
Host: Oh god…
BP: To keep this poison out of country and help our kids that are addicted.
Host: Ok I tried.
Host 2: Congressman!
BP: I’m an honest guy! I’m just going to tell you what it is!
Host: No you actually didn’t answer the question, you know it’s a simple do you support it or not support but anyway I tried.
BP: It’s a state issue Mike, thanks for asking.
Host: Yep.
