ICYMI – Poliquin’s HUGE Tax Controversies

Before Washington Republicans try make an issue out of taxes, they should really look in the mirror at their own candidate. Congressman Bruce Poliquin has a record of abusing tax loopholes for his own personal gain. Poliquin couldn’t even pay his own taxes on time.

Congressman Poliquin has been feeling the heat after news broke earlier this year that he paid his property taxes late 41 times.

The Associated Press reported earlier this year that Poliquin “was assessed interest 31 times for tardy payments in the last 10 years for properties he owned outright, owned with his parents or was developing through his real estate company.” The analysis also highlighted that Poliquin had “about 10 more late payments” before 1993.

Poliquin previously made news when he was caught abusing a loophole to pay less than 30 dollars in property taxes on an oceanfront property in southern Maine worth millions.

The tax news clearly has Poliquin feeling vulnerable, as he hastily released a very defensive ad recently.

“Before Washington Republicans try make an issue out of taxes, they should really look in the mirror at their own candidate, Congressman Bruce Poliquin, who abused tax loopholes for his own personal gain and couldn’t even pay his own taxes on time,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “This is just another desperate attempt by Poliquin and his Washington Republican friends to paper over his record of rigging the system to his benefit, no matter how many Mainers get hurt. And it won’t work.”
