ICYMI: Poll Shows Dead Heat Between Andy Kim and Tom MacArthur
In case you missed it, last week the League of Conservation Voters and Environmental Defense Fund released a poll showing Andy Kim and Tom MacArthur in a dead heat in the race for New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District. You can read the polling memo here.
Some key findings from the poll include:
- A tied initial vote: Kim 42%, MacArthur 42%.
- MacArthur is unpopular, with 38% of voters viewing him unfavorably, compared to only 33% with a favorable view.
- MacArthur’s authorship of the health care repeal bill is devastating. 53% of voters oppose the health care repeal bill, compared to only 34% that support it. Furthermore, 71% of voters expressed doubts about voting for MacArthur after learning about his health care repeal vote, including a stunning 86% of Independents.
- After voters learn about MacArthur’s record, they shift significantly toward Kim, improving his margin by 16 points.
