ICYMI: Rep. Gabe Vasquez Talks To Telemundo Following Veterans Listening Session

Rep. Gabe Vasquez talked with Telemundo Nuevo Mexico following a listening session with veterans and veteran advocates. Among the concerns raised during the round table were health care and mental health resources, as well as his support for bipartisan legislation to help veterans exposed to toxic chemicals while on duty.

Rep. Vasquez’s congressional district, NM-02, is home to over 45,000 veterans.

Rep. Gabe Vasquez told Telemundo (translated from Spanish):

  • “[The PACT Act] is a new law that helps veterans who have been exposed to toxic chemicals during active duty in places like Iraq, Afghanistan, or in Cambodia and Vietnam.”

  • “We are talking about how we can improve the services we give to our New Mexico veterans to ensure that at the same time they sacrificed for our families and for our country we are returning these services to them after they are retired from active duty.”

DCCC Spokesperson José Muñoz:
“Rep. Vasquez is delivering results for New Mexican veterans. That’s why he’s putting party politics aside to expand crucial services like health care for veterans impacted by toxic chemicals and increasing awareness of mental health services.”
