This morning Carlos Curbelo voted to endanger the lives of South Floridians by voting for the reckless Republican health care bill that would strip away necessary funds to fight against killer diseases, including the Zika virus. With mosquito season right around the corner, South Florida residents are paying attention to what Congress is doing to protect their families as it relates to Zika. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Republicans are seeking to take away Zika funding; after all, it took them nearly a year and several cases of Zika infections to pass the same funding they want to take away.
“Carlos Curbelo is leading the efforts to take away healthcare from millions of hardworking people – which violates his own promise that no one would lose coverage with the Republican plan. To make matters worse, this legislation cuts funding to fight dangerous diseases like Zika. Will Curbelo’s fellow South Florida Republicans Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart follow his lead in putting the Republican Party before the best interests of South Floridians?”, asked Javier Gamboa of the DCCC.
