ICYMI: Scott Baugh Outlines His Dangerous Agenda for OC in Latest Interview

In a new interview with NBC, Scott Baugh made a clear case for why Orange County voters should do everything in their power to keep him out of office. The extreme Republican with a criminal past revealed he has no issue rolling back rights for women and the LGBTQ community, or common sense gun violence reforms meant to address tragedies like the mass shooting that occurred in CA-47 just this summer.

Instead, when asked what he would do in Congress, Baugh happily outlined his dangerous agenda for Orange County:

  • Support cuts to Social Security and Medicare in line with the GOP tax plan that attacks essential programs for seniors

  • Support a nationwide abortion ban that makes no exceptions for rape or when the life of an individual is at risk

  • Keep weapons of war available for civilians to purchase

  • Leave marriage equality unprotected at a time when the Supreme Court has signaled its constitutionality should be reexamined

“Instead of protecting our rights or addressing the gun violence epidemic devastating Orange County and our entire nation, Scott Baugh wants to use the power of Congress to slash essential programs for seniors,” said DCCC spokesperson Maddy Mundy. “Baugh’s backwards priorities are dangerous for Orange County.”

  • To lower the prices… “You have to reform entitlements” like Social Security and Medicare, which have too many “unfunded liabilities,” [Scott Baugh] continued, and said raising the retirement age should be “one of the tools you have to use” as part of a legislative compromise to cut safety net spending.

  • Recently, Porter has voted with her party to codify federal protections for legal abortion in the Women’s Health Protection Act and same-sex marriage in the Respect For Marriage Act. She also voted for legislation that would ban assault weapons.

  • Baugh said he’d vote against all those bills if he were a congressman.
