According to a new report from The Keystone, Scott Perry recently joined 19 other Republicans to oppose bipartisan legislation that “would allow US Secret Service agents to collect overtime pay during the 2024 and 2028 elections.”
The bill, which was backed by the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, would ensure Secret Service agents aren’t once again shorted tens of thousands of dollars in overtime pay during election years.
This isn’t the first time Perry has turned his back on federal law enforcement. Following Jan. 6, Perry joined 20 other Republicans to oppose awarding four congressional gold medals to the United States Capitol Police and those who protected the U.S. Capitol during the violent insurrection. Perry later described the vote to honor the officers as “garbage.”
DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“Whether it’s opposing overtime pay for Secret Service agents or voting against honoring police officers who protected the Capitol on January 6th, Scott Perry keeps playing politics with the livelihoods of law enforcement.”
