As rural communities across Upstate New York face budget cuts and fiscal ruin due to the global pandemic, failed former Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (Spectrum-22) told local media that crucial aid for state and local governments that passed the House, “rewards fiscally irresponsible states and cities with a $1 trillion bailout.”
We wish we were making this up.
As local governments from all across the political spectrum face tough financial decisions, Tenney’s comments will likely offend even the staunchest members of her own party. These comments echo Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s earlier comments that state and local money would be a “blue state bailout”.
“As everyone tries to work together during this global pandemic, it is no surprise to see failed former Congresswoman Tenney dancing to the tune of her Washington handlers. Mayors and County Executives across NY-22 are forced to make tough choices as they look at their budgets and they don’t need Tenney taking cheap shots to please Washington insiders,” said DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett.
