ICYMI: Univision 19: Students Give Jeff Denham Failing Grades on College Affordability

Local students and recent graduates delivered a “report card” to Republican Congressman Jeff Denham (CA-10), giving him failing grades on college affordability.
Denham joined House Republicans in voting to freeze spending on Pell Grants, which help nine million of the nation’s poorest high school graduates afford college. Along with other national Republicans, he has refused to address the student loan debt crisis.
“Congress should be opening the door to college and career opportunity. But instead of standing with the young people who live in his district, Congressman Denham has joined the House Republicans who want to make college less affordable,” said Ebony Gonzales, a high school senior from Stockton. “We’re giving Denham failing grades because he needs to hear that cutting support for students and refusing to address the student loan debt crisis is endangering the future of students across his district and the country.”
