Tea Party House Republican Leader Jeb Hensarling Holds Secret Fundraiser for Embattled Congressman
If there was any political tension between Tea Party House Republicans and their ally Congressman Frank Guinta, it is now water under the bridge.
The scandal-ridden Congressman, who recently gave back the hundreds of thousands of dollars he illegally took from his parents to first get elected to Congress in 2010 (and lied about it for years) is now receiving political and financial support from his House Tea Party allies.
According to Bloomberg Politics, House Republican and Tea Party leader Jeb Hensarling recently organized a “private book club” fundraiser to help raise money for Guinta.
This follows news from earlier this month when House Republicans rewarded Guinta for his steadfast loyalty to the Tea Party agenda by tapping him for a seat on the powerful House Budget Committee.
“If there was any political tension between Tea Party House Republicans and their ally Frank Guinta, it’s now clearly water under the bridge,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “It’s clear that Tea Party Republicans are rallying behind Guinta because they know they can count on his vote to continue their conservative agenda, including defunding Planned Parenthood.”
