ICYMI: Zeldin Praises Trump for “Politically Incorrect Leadership”

In case you missed it – One Term Wonder Congressman Lee Zeldin gushed over controversial Presidential candidate Donald Trump to ABC News:

“While Zeldin also said he wasn’t prepared to endorse Trump or any other candidate, he also complemented Trump’s persona.

‘Americans want candid, brutally honest, sometimes politically incorrect leadership,’ he said.”

Trump’s campaign has been defined by a seemingly endless series of highly offensive comments towards women, Hispanics, and veterans. Zeldin’s relationship with him runs deep. Trump contributed to Zeldin’s campaign and even did a campaign robocall for him last year.

Unfortunately keeping company with extremists is nothing out of the ordinary for Congressman Zeldin. Earlier this summer, Zeldin met with the Oath Keepers, a rightwing militia group most famous for their radical views and hateful rhetoric.

“It’s astounding what Congressman Zeldin seems to think constitutes ‘leadership’,” said DCCC spokesperson Jeb Fain. “Does Congressman Zeldin actually think Trump’s repeatedly disparaging comments towards women, Hispanics, and veterans actually qualifies as ‘leadership’? That kind of hate speech may be what Congressman Zeldin is looking for from a Presidential candidate, but he couldn’t be more out of touch with Long Islanders if he believes they want the same.”
