The fringe is taking center stage in the GOP primary for California’s 3rd congressional district. With Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones’ campaign announcement today, Big Lie proponent Kevin Kiley has company in the competition for most extreme GOP candidate.
During his tenure as sheriff, Jones wracked up lawsuits spanning from civil liberties violations to allegations of sexual harassment that led to taxpayers paying $3.6 million in damages. Like Kiley, Jones opposes life-saving policies to stop the spread of COVID-19. Between Jones and Kiley, the race for CA-03’s GOP nominee is quickly becoming an all out sprint to the right.
