In Case You Missed House Republicans’ Votes

In the past 2 weeks, House Democrats have acted decisively to protect rights that hang in the balance, following the Supreme Court’s decision to gut 50 years of precedent and overturn Roe and conservative justices’ call to revisit other landmark cases that protect the rights of contraception access and marriage equality.

  • House Democrats again passed the Right to Contraception Act, to enshrine women’s  and families’ right to access contraception into federal law. 195 Republicans voted no.

  • House Democrats again passed the Women’s Health and Protection Act, which would protect a woman’s right to abortion. 209 Republicans voted no.

  • House Democrats again passed the Ensuring Access to Abortion Act, which would safegaurd a woman’s right to travel to another state to receive an abortion if their state bans the medical procedure. This bill would stop states from putting a bounty on the heads of women, families and doctors who assist in obtaining the abortion. 205 Republicans voted no.

  • House Democrats passed the Respect for Marriage Act to protect marriage equality, regardless of race or gender identity. 157 Republicans voted no.

“At every step, the majority of Republicans voted against broadly popular legislation to safeguard Americans’ freedom to decide the course of their own lives,” said DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia. “Republicans are proving time and again that they can’t be trusted to safeguard our freedoms.”
