| It’s been a banner few weeks for Greg Cunningham proving just how extreme, callous, and out of touch he is with the New Mexico families.
In his own words, Cunningham has made clear he’ll be a rubberstamp to Trump and the MAGA wing of his party, cheer on a reckless war even as families feel the crushing economic costs, disparage New Mexicans who rely on SNAP and Medicaid, and dismiss the lawless targeting ofAmerican citizens at the hands of ICE, which have resulted in tragic deaths as “collateral damage”:
Just take his word for it:
Cunningham On Americans Targeted by ICE Operations:
- “On camera, in the same weeks federal agents were killing citizens in Minneapolis, Cunningham described the people caught up in ICE operations — including bystanders who might be family or coworkers — as expendable.”
- CUNNINGHAM: “They got to go, so they are collateral damage…”
- Asked about the deaths piling up around enforcement operations nationally — federal agents shot 14 people between September 2025 and February 2026, according to the record — Cunningham didn’t point at ICE. He pointed at the public. “The public needs training too.”
- People who show up to protest ICE, in Cunningham’s telling, aren’t exercising a constitutional right. They’re the enemy.
- “I can tell you that they are anarchists. They hate America…they are just professional antagonists, and they have to be dealt with individually.”
- Cunningham…[also told] one interviewer that “immigration without assimilation is an invasion.”
Cunningham On New Mexicans Losing Health Care and Food Assistance:
- Vasquez’s Republican challenger, Greg Cunningham, lamented in a June radio interview that New Mexico is a net taker of federal revenue and that New Mexicans have lost their work ethic.
- CUNNINGHAM: “When you accept government acceptance, I mean assistance as a way of life, you’re enslaved…Your ceiling is capped. Other people are making decisions for you, and as a human being, I think that that is fundamentally wrong.”
Cunningham On the Reckless War-of-Choice in Iran Raising New Mexicans’ Costs:
- CUNNINGHAM: “I…applaud the president for doing the right thing…I believe that [high prices are] temporary, the spike that we’re seeing with the conflict… is temporary, and to hang on, we’re going to get through it.”
- CUNNINGHAM: “Yes, things are a little tight right now… [but] yes, I do support [the war].”
Cunningham On His Pledge to End All Abortion in New Mexico:
- CUNNINGHAM: “I have my beliefs. I will remain consistent to my beliefs, and that’s where I stand on that.”
DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Greg Cunningham has no respect for the New Mexicans he wants to represent. His own words expose exactly who he is: callous, dangerously extreme, and completely out of touch with New Mexico.”
