Michelle Steel likes to pretend she’s tough on China. A recent story in the OC Register reported no California House member has mentioned China more on social media.
But tweeting and legislating are two different things…
For the same story, Steel was asked about her ‘no’ vote on the America COMPETES Act, a recent House-passed bill that will create jobs and help ensure America can outcompete China.
In response, Steel called the bill ‘progress’ – but that didn’t stop her from joining virtually every other GOP House member to vote against it, even though an amendment she introduced was included in the bill.
This isn’t the first time Michelle Steel touted policy she voted against. Earlier this year, Steel was slammed for campaigning on major infrastructure investments coming to California thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal – another common sense bill she also voted against.
DCCC Spokesperson Maddy Mundy
“From infrastructure to jobs, Michelle Steel has made it clear she takes no issue voting against what she knows is good for California and America. Michelle Steel is guided by one thing: the radical agenda of her party bosses in Washington.”
