| Despite being outspent 20-to-1 in a district Donald Trump won by 17 points in 2024, a Democrat in Texas FLIPPED a state senate district, swinging the seat 32 points from 2024.
The 32 point swing is the largest Democratic overperformance in a competitive special election since Trump took office, according to new data from G. Elliott Morris and The Downballot.

These special election victories include states where the DCCC is targeting vulnerable House Republicans, including Pennsylvania (4 flip opportunities) and Iowa (3 flip opportunities).
A Fox News poll last week shows Democrats up 6 POINTS on the generic congressional ballot, including 62% of Independents supporting Democrats. The current 52% support for congressional Democrats is the HIGHEST recorded for either party in the Fox News poll, a momentous data point considering Democrats won 41 seats in the 2018 midterms.
The recent polling edge comes as the nonpartisan Cook Political Report shifted 18 House districts in Democrats’ direction.
DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“The American people resoundingly reject GOP extremism. Democrats will take back the House in November, and the results in Texas are further proof of our momentum.”
