In the Wake of Mass Shootings, Barbara Kirkmeyer Stands With Gun Lobby Over Colorado Families

Kirkmeyer would have voted against bipartisan gun safety legislation

As Americans grieved another horrible mass shooting during an Illinois Independence Day parade on the heels of the tragic Uvalde elementary school massacre, extremist CO-08 Republican nominee Barbara Kirkmeyer doubled down on her dangerous opposition to common sense gun safety measures.

Today, Bloomberg Government reported on Kirkmeyer’s “dismissal of gun-control laws” and her disdain for the new bipartisan gun safety law that offers incentives to states that implement Red Flag laws. In fact, as a county commissioner, Kirkmeyer undermined Colorado’s popular Red Flag legislation.

At a time when voters demand solutions to gun violence, Kirkmeyer has proven herself an obstacle to common sense gun violence reform.

“The widely popular bipartisan gun safety law is just the latest gun violence prevention measure Barbara Kirkmeyer opposes. If Kirkmeyer had her way, Colorado families would have no protection from the gun violence epidemic seizing our country. Coloradans will put a stop to Kirkmeyer’s dangerous agenda this November,” said DCCC Spokesperson Maddy Mundy.
