Instant Reax to Lucinda Guinn’s Selection as DCCC Executive Director

Chairwoman Bustos and her team at the DCCC were thrilled last night to announce Lucinda Guinn as the DCCC’s new Executive Director. Judging from people’s reactions on the internet, we’re not the only ones who think Lucinda is the right person to direct the DCCC as we work to protect and expand the most diverse Caucus in American history.

Here’s what people are saying:

Rep. Tony Cardenas, BOLD PAC Chairman

“We are very proud the DCCC has officially tapped Lucinda Guinn to be its next Executive Director, making her the first Latina to ever hold the position. We commend Chairwoman Bustos for running a fair and exhaustive process and we are confident in Lucinda’s ability to lead the DCCC and defend our Democratic majority. Last cycle, Lucinda saw the Republican playbook in action and faced it head-on at EMILY’s List, helping usher in the most historic and diverse generation of Members to Congress. We look forward to working with Lucinda and the DCCC to protect the gains we made in 2018, talk to voters in every district, and expand our majority in every part of the country.”

Rep. Gwen Moore, DCCC Regional Vice-Chair:

“I am excited to welcome Lucinda Guinn as the new Executive Director of the DCCC. More than ever, we need her diverse leadership to bring about the change families across the country want and need. I am confident in her track record of success and look forward to working with her in months to come.”

Rep. Linda Sanchez, DCCC Labor Council Co-Chair:

“The thorough and inclusive search process for the DCCC’s next Executive Director brought forward a historic, battle-tested candidate in Lucinda Guinn. As a Latina with roots in Texas and a proven record of delivering results, she is the right choice for this position. I know Lucinda will be ready for the job on day one, and I look forward to working with her and Chairwoman Bustos to protect and grow the most diverse House Caucus in American history.”

Rep. Lois Frankel, DCCC Women LEAD Co-Chair:

“After a competitive, open, and thorough search process, I am delighted with the selection of Lucinda Guinn as DCCC Executive Director. Under the leadership of Chairwoman Bustos, and with Lucinda’s collaborative approach, fresh ideas, and battle-tested experience, I am confident that we will protect and expand our Democratic majority in 2020.”

Rep. Charlie Crist, DCCC Regional Vice-Chair:

“The DCCC ran a robust, competitive process that resulted in a top flight selection to quarterback House Democrats efforts to retain and grow our majority. Lucinda has the right mix of experience, strategic vision and leadership to successfully guide our campaign committee to victory in 2020.”

Rep. Xochitl Torres-Small

“It is exciting to have another native New Mexican serving as the Executive Director of the DCCC. Lucinda’s background and years of experience will be an invaluable asset to the committee. Last year, as the Director of Campaigns at EMILY’s List, Lucinda helped to elect more women to Congress that any other year in history. I know she will bring the same values, passion, and dedication that made her successful last cycle to her new position at the DCCC. She will help protect the most diverse caucus in the party’s history and build upon it in 2020.”

Ilyse Hogue, NARAL President:

“Congratulations to Lucinda Guinn on her new role as Executive Director of the DCCC. Her experience at EMILY’s List and proven track record of success winning tough races will serve her well in the critical task of defending and expanding the first-ever pro-choice majority in the House of Representatives.”

John Lapp, Former DCCC Executive Director:

“The search was incredibly thorough, thoughtful, and inclusive — with strong input from members of Congress and progressive allies.  With decades of experience personally recruiting strong, diverse, progressive candidates across the country, to helping shore up frontline Democrats at both the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and EMILY’s List, Lucinda Guinn’s inclusive style of leadership is exactly what The Democratic Caucus and Committee need right now.”

Brian Wolff, Former DCCC Executive Director:

“As former Executive Director of the DCCC, I am excited that my former colleague Lucinda Guinn is taking over the helm at the Committee.  I served as ED in the 2008 cycle when our goal was to expand our House majority and Lucinda will be laser focused on doing the same job this cycle.”
