In a devastating blow to Yvette Herrell’s former ally and endorser, the U.S. Supreme Court denied to hear convicted January 6th insurrectionist Couy Griffin’s appeal of a district court ruling stating he can never hold elected office in New Mexico again.
When Griffin, the founder of Cowboys for Trump, endorsed Herrell’s campaign, she took to social media saying “Cowboys For Trump is truly one of the endorsements I am most proud of! Keep up the great work, Couy!”
Couy was then arrested by the FBI for his involvement in the January 6th insurrection and posted a video online saying he would return to the Capitol on Jan. 20th for President Biden’s inauguration.
Following public backlash and reporter questions about her relationship with Couy Griffin, Yvette has since tried to walk back her support.
DCCC Spokesperson Lauryn Fanguen:
“Yvette Herrell can dance around her previous support for insurrectionist Couy Griffin all she wants, but their relationship is clear. Neither of them should be trusted to hold elected office again.”
