Announcement follows Mowrer’s big primary victory & reflects the competitive nature of Iowa’s 3rd District
DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján today announced the addition of Iraq war veteran and Pentagon official Jim Mowrer to the DCCC’s Red to Blue program. Last Tuesday’s primary results marked the beginning of a critical “toss-up” election for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District. Mowrer begins the general election poised to take advantage of a weak incumbent and a favorable political environment.
“We’re very excited to have Jim Mowrer as our candidate and his status as a Red to Blue candidate reflects our position of strength in Iowa’s 3rd District,” said DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján. “Jim is a combat veteran, a former Pentagon official, and a proud father of young children with a deep commitment to middle-class families and keeping Americans safe. Further, he has already proven that he has what it takes to outraise Congressman Young, build a formidable grassroots organization, and provide effective leadership to the district.”

The DCCC’s Red to Blue program highlights top Democratic campaigns across the country, and offers them financial, communications, grassroots, and strategic support. The program will introduce Democratic supporters to new, competitive candidates in order to help expand the fundraising base for these campaigns.
