Is Donald Trump’s Personal Endorsement the House GOP’s Kiss of Death?

After suffering two humiliating primary losses in one week – many are wondering if the GOP’s midterm strategy of rallying behind Trump and to “put him on the ballot” is actually political suicide

This has not been a good week for NRCC and Trump-backed congressional candidates.

First, a NRCC-backed, Trump endorsed, “MAGA Majority” designated candidate lost their primary in Michigan – to someone who had already dropped out. Then last night, MAGA-warrior Andy Ogles got trounced in Tennessee. Even more embarrassing is Ogles’ loss after Tennessee Republicans redistricted the state at Trump’s direction to protect him. Taken together, it shows how weak the Trump/MAGA brand is – across the political spectrum.

It’s only going to get worse for them in November as top Republican campaign officials have decided to go all-in on begging the unpopular president to crisscross the country for them.

NRCC Chairman Richard Hudson, when asked if he wants Trump to campaign for his embattled members:

But in an environment where the American people are pissed at Trump and Republicans’ broken promises, and Democrats have been overperforming by double digits in special elections and there is a massive turnout advantage for Democrats in primaries, this week revealed that even Republicans are sick and tired of Trump’s failed second term.REMINDER: House Democrats are on offense. The DCCC recently expanded our offensive targets to 58 districts, race raters are moving more and more races in our direction, while Republicans are retreating – marred in scandal with a roster filled with weak candidates.
