| The Trump administration plans to freeze billions of dollars in federal funding that helps California families afford child care and meet basic needs – the latest act of political retaliation against blue states. Once again, Darrell Issa is damningly silent.
Trump and House Republicans promised to lower the cost of child care. Instead, they are ripping away support from working parents, children, child care providers, and educators – leaving families more vulnerable and kids hungrier.
Here’s what’s on the chopping block:
- $7.3 billion from Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), supporting child care and basic support for low-income families.
- $2.4 billion from the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF), allowing parents to work, attend school, and complete job training.
- $869 million from the Social Services Block Grant, funding child care and services for seniors and people with disabilities.
