Ohio Republicans are grappling with another stinging loss after voters rejected their near total abortion ban last Tuesday. Rather than listening to the will of the voters, the GOP is doubling down on its anti-abortion agenda.
Already, Ohio Republican politicians are promising a “revolving door of ballot campaigns to repeal or replace Issue 1,” while also threatening a national abortion ban.
Nowhere is this extremism more visible than in the messy OH-09 Republican primary:
According to a recent report from the Ohio Capital Journal, “[J.R.] Majewski believes in life at conception and stated he would ‘support all legislation that protects life in the womb’” while his primary opponent Craig Riedel, “voted in favor of Ohio’s six-week abortion ban and described it as his ‘proudest day’ as a legislator.”
DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“While J.R. Majewski and Craig Riedel continue to sling mud at each other in a chaotic race to the bottom, voters are rejecting their brand of anti-abortion extremism at the ballot box.”
