“It’s a Horror Story:” Coloradans Face Higher Premiums and Coverage Losses Thanks to Jeff Crank and Gabe Evans

Jeff Crank and Gabe Evans’ health care cuts are having major consequences in Colorado, CPR News reports – including depleted savings, empty retirement accounts, and a spike in uninsured patients.

REMINDER: Crank and Evans hit families with a one-two punch, first voting for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history, then voting against extending key tax credits that lower health care premiums.

Now, Coloradans are speaking out about how Crank and Evans’ cruelty is impacting their lives:

  • A Denver business owner saw her premiums double, leaving her and her husband to drain their savings, empty retirement accounts, and take out a home loan to afford medical expenses.
  • A consultant from Centennial battling cancer had to take an indefinite leave of absence from work in order to qualify for an affordable health care plan.
  • A woman diagnosed with MS is considering going without health insurance out of fear for high costs down the road.
  • A doctor at Montbello Family Health Center could see 20,000 of the hospital’s patients become uninsured to Medicaid cuts in the Big, Ugly Bill.

As Coloradans pay the price for Republicans’ disastrous agenda, Crank and Evans couldn’t even be bothered to show remorse. In fact, they both doubled down on their support for gutting health care.

DCCC Spokesperson Lindsay Reilly:
“Jeff Crank and Gabe Evans sold out hardworking Coloradans to pay for tax cuts for billionaires. While Crank and Evans turn a blind eye, families are being forced to choose between paying for health insurance or paying for their next meal. Crank and Evans caused this health care crisis, and they will pay at the ballot box in November.”
