| On Tax Day, Deputy Speaker Mike Johnson held a sad press conference in a desperate attempt to lie to the American people about their tax scam’s provisions spiking costs and cutting health care — all to pay for permanent tax cuts for the wealthiest few.
Since passage of their bill, House Republicans have banked on Tax Day 2026 to be a major part of their futile effort to hold onto the majority in the midterms.
The only problem?
Voters overwhelmingly hate the GOP Tax Scam, with recent polling showing that the bill is currently underwater by 13 points, and at an abysmal -42 points with independents.
Even worse for Republicans, most Americans also say the taxes they paid this year are “too high,” highlighting the on-the-ground reality that the GOP Tax Scam provides more in tax breaks to the top 1% than to the bottom 80% COMBINED, and is expected to raise taxes on the poorest 40% of Americans.
DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
“The more House Republicans brag about their Tax Scam, the more people hate it, and in turn, their prospects in the midterms. From all of us at the DCCC, we say, keep it up!” |
