Republican candidate Jeanne Ives recently “gave the president an ‘A’ grade” on Trump’s first term in office, “saying [her approval] applies for all of Trump’s policy stances.”
A quick look at what Ives is giving an ‘A’ rating to:
- The Trump budget that proposes cutting hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicare and Medicaid, which covers 2,253,611 and 2,911,300 Illinoisans, respectively.
- Repeated efforts to dismantle the Affordable Care Act and replace it with disastrous Republican proposals that would slash coverage, increase costs, and gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions – including 317,800 peoplein the 6th District.
- The Trump Tax Scam that included a cap on the State and Local Tax Deduction (SALT) that nearly half of residents in the 6th District claim for almost $5 million in federal tax relief.
“Illinoisans in the 6th District aren’t looking for another rubber stamp on Washington Republicans’ disastrous agenda that jeopardizes Medicare and Social Security, guts access to health care and protections for pre-existing conditions, and unfairly increases their taxes,” said DCCC Spokesperson Courtney Rice. “If Jeanne Ives is so eager to give the Trump administration a glowing grade, it’s clear she’s out of touch with the constituents she wants to represent.
