Jay Chen Added to Competitive DCCC ‘Red to Blue’ Program

Chen is ready to take on Michelle Steel’s failed record and deliver for Orange County families

Today, DCCC Chairman Sean Patrick Maloney announced that the DCCC added twelve candidates to the highly competitive Red to Blue program.

On that list is military reservist Jay Chen, who is running to kick Republican Michelle Steel out of office and finally give Orange County families a representative who will vote for good-paying jobs and critical investments.

Chen earned a spot on the DCCC’s coveted Red to Blue program by surpassing aggressive goals for grassroots engagement, local support, campaign organization, and fundraising. Beyond his record of leadership – like serving as a community college trustee and local school board member – and his ability to build a winning campaign infrastructure, Chen has an authentic message and deep ties to the diverse communities he will serve in Congress.

“Serving honorably from the Korean peninsula to the Middle East, Jay Chen has dedicated his life to our country. Now he is continuing that record of service by running to replace corrupt politician Michelle Steel in Congress. Steel won in 2020 by a slim two-point margin, and Chen has an outstanding opportunity to win this district and restore integrity to this seat,” said DCCC spokesperson Maddy Mundy. “A first-generation Taiwanese-American, Chen will ensure families across Orange County have the same chance at the American Dream that his did by fighting for economic development, infrastructure investments and job creation in Congress.”

Red to Blue is a highly competitive battle-tested DCCC program that arms top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue to develop strong campaigns. Through Red to Blue, the DCCC also provides strategic guidance, staff resources, candidate trainings and more.
