GOP Rep. Jeff Van Drew wants voters to believe he is an independent voice on Capitol Hill — but when he had the chance to benefit more than 134,000 children in his district, he voted no.
Starting today, the Child Tax Credit passed as part of the American Rescue Plan, will benefit roughly 39 million households and 88% of children.
In Van Drew’s district alone:
- 134,100 children will benefit from this tax credit
- 8,700 children will be lifted out of poverty
- 43,100 households will benefit an average of $2,900 annually

“When it came time to decide between helping 134,000 children and partisan politics, Jeff Van Drew chose the latter. As Van Drew joined Republicans in opposing this vital aid to families, Democrats delivered.” |
