Jeff Van Drew Voted “No,” Took the Dough on Key Infrastructure and Jobs Investments For South Jersey

Voters in New Jersey deserve better than a hypocrite who votes against his own community

Vulnerable Republican Rep. Jeff Van Drew once again voted “no” and took the dough by voting against the landmark INVEST Act, which contains critical investments in infrastructure and job creation, including $20 million directly for hard infrastructure projects in Van Drew’s district at his own request.

Van Drew was the only member of the New Jersey delegation to vote against this bill.

Take a look at where the investments that Van Drew voted against will be headed:

  • $7,000,000.00 for Ocean Drive (CR621) Upgrades and Bridge Improvements — Lower Township, New Jersey

  • $9,250,000.00 Route 55/Route 47 Interchange — Millville, New Jersey

  • $1,640,000.00 Dennisville Petersburg Road (CR 610) Resurfacing Improvements — Dennis Township, New Jersey

  • $1,310,000.00 Hand Avenue (CR-658) Bridge Over Skeeter Island Creek — Middle Township, New Jersey

  • $800,000.00 Woodbine Bikeway and Trailhead Improvements — Borough of Woodbine, New Jersey

When Rep. Van Drew is home in the district this recess, don’t be surprised if he spends time touting the very investments he voted against. Just like when he voted against direct relief funds for his community in the American Rescue Plan, Van Drew voted no, but was all too happy to take the dough.

“Jeff Van Drew is so out-of-touch with his district that he is repeatedly voting against needed investments in his community in an attempt to score cheap political points,” said DCCC Spokesperson James Singer. “Families in New Jersey have Democrats to thank for the good-paying jobs and much-needed infrastructure investments headed their way — not Van Drew, who stood against them when it counted.”
