JEN KIGGANS DID THAT: “Hampton Roads Consumers Face Return of $4 Gas”

Hampton Roads families are continuing to struggle with rising gas prices because vulnerable Republican Congresswoman Jen Kiggans has repeatedly voted in favor of Donald Trump’s reckless war in Iran.

REMINDER: Kiggans was caught red-handed scrubbing her campaign website to remove promises of cutting inflation and lowering gas prices. And Kiggans has said that she “couldn’t be a stauncher supporter” of the cost-spiking war.

  • Gasoline prices rose above $4 a gallon in parts of Virginia on Wednesday as the United States and Iran traded military blows over control of the Strait of Hormuz, last week ending a ceasefire that had brought consumers temporary relief at the pump.
  • The statewide average price of regular unleaded gasoline reached $3.96 a gallon, but drivers are paying more than $4 a gallon in Northern Virginia, Hampton Roads and the Fredericksburg area, according to AAA Virginia. The average price of gasoline reached $3.99 a gallon in Richmond and Petersburg on Tuesday, exceeded $3.98 a gallon in Charlottesville and $3.97 a gallon in Winchester.
  • “If you were looking for gas price relief in the summer, you are going to be sorely disappointed,” said Bob McNab, chairman of economics at Old Dominion University in Norfolk.
  • In Virginia, prices crossed the $4 a gallon threshold Wednesday, hitting $4.05 in the Northern Virginia suburbs, $4.04 in the Fredericksburg area and $4.03 in Norfolk and Virginia Beach.
  • “Prices go up like a rocket and down like a feather,” said Morgan Dean, spokesman for AAA Virginia.
  • For Virginia truckers, the cost of transporting goods is rising again, with diesel fuel averaging $5.21 a gallon Wednesday, 4 cents higher than the previous day and 32 cents higher than a week earlier.
