Jen Kiggans Feels the Heat As Jarome Bell and GOP Base Question Her Conservatism in VA-02 Primary

Jen Kiggans complains she’s “sick and tired” of having her far-right positions questioned as GOP primary fight gets nasty with Jarome Bell

The brawl to the wall in Virginia’s 2nd district Republican primary is getting ugly, and Jen Kiggans is feeling the heat as conspiracy theorist Jarome Bell is gaining ground in the race.

After flopping “in a tight fundraising battle” with a performance “so disappointing that some speculated she’d drop out of the race” and getting mocked by conservative media for her evasive “consultant-driven” answers, Kiggans desperately defended her out-of-touch views by lurching to the extreme on the John Fredericks Show:

John Fredericks [8:50]: Jen, you’ve gotten a lot criticism from many of my listeners that they feel that you’re going to go there, you’re part of the establishment, you’re voting for McCarthy, there’s not going to be any change, you’re not going to be part of the Freedom Caucus wing. It’s going to be the same old story. A lot of people are done with that, Jen. […] There’s a lot of concern based on some of the positions that you have, that if you get there, you’re not going to be the type of firebrand conservative, pro-America First conservative […] and that’s just not playing right now in Republican primaries across the country. How do you address that?

Jen Kiggans: Listen, I completely disagree […] I take a little bit of offense to what you said because I go up there again every day and fight with them, and I have had that just thrown in my face, and I am sick and tired of it. […] Do not ever question the reasons that I get on a ballot and that I go to Richmond and get out of bed every day, and why I fight to win this race, and to help flip the U.S. House.

Kiggans may be “sick and tired” of her messy race to the far right with Jarome Bell, but don’t expect it to let up anytime soon. Virginia Republicans will be tearing themselves apart to prove who’s the most far-right, unelectable candidate all the way until primary day.

“It’s clear that Washington Republicans’ hand-picked candidate Jen Kiggans is getting frustrated that she’s losing ground against Jarome Bell in the VA-02 primary,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Coastal Virginians see her for exactly what she is: a typical politician who always falls in line with her party leaders and will say or do anything to get elected.”
