Jen Kiggans Remains Silent as the VA Moves to Eliminate Veterans’ Access to Care

Associated Press: The VA wants to end coverage of abortion for US military veterans

As the Administration moves to “
remove abortion coverage from the list of medical benefits for veterans and their families,” Virginia Republican Jen Kiggans has been noticeably silent.

What does Kiggans think about veterans losing access to care? Local news outlet 13News Now reached out to try and ask the congresswoman for her thoughts. Her response: crickets.

“13News Now also reached out to Rep. Jen Kiggans, who sits on the House committee and did not issue a statement, for comment on the new proposed rule.”

Kiggans’ refusal to answer to her own constituents is part of a growing and troubling pattern. The vulnerable Congresswoman this week declined to attend a Hampton Roads roundtable with community leaders, and she has refused to meet face-to-face with her own constituents to address her vote for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history, or to explain why she has enabled devastating job cuts across Virginia.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“A troubling pattern is emerging with Republican Congresswoman Jen Kiggans: she is refusing to answer to the Virginians that she is supposed to represent. Her silence is deafening and makes it clear that Virginians can’t trust Kiggans to protect their health care or their jobs.”
