Kiggans says no to bonuses for hard-working Virginia police officers
Jen Kiggans just proved again why Virginians can’t trust her — she’s a typical politician who will always side with far-right Republicans even when it means funding for Virginia police officers.
Kiggans sided with party leaders to vote against a bipartisan bill which would provide hazard pay bonuses for Virginia police officers and law enforcement. The package allocates “much of over $4.3 billion in federal funding” to directly help Virginians — relief which Kiggans opposed.
Right out of the gate when Kiggans launched her campaign for Congress, she vowed to oppose the American Rescue Plan, the critical relief package which is helping Virginians turn a corner on the pandemic and giving Virginia families a middle-class tax cut.
“Jen Kiggans’ vote against bipartisan funding for law enforcement officers in Coastal Virginia is just the latest reminder she’s a typical politician who will do whatever far-right Republicans say, even when it’s wrong for working families,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “It’s crystal clear Kiggans would rather play politics than deliver results for Virginia.”
