Jen Kiggans Throws in the Towel on Even Pretending to Care About Skyrocketing Health Care Costs

“When the chips are down, Jen Kiggans always folds. Kiggans can sign all of the meaningless letters and empty statements she wants, but the truth is that she has failed to buck her own party when it matters most. Her record of spiking costs and ripping away health care will be indefensible next November.”

This marks just the latest example of Kiggans folding when Virginians need her most. 

• Kiggans folded when she promised to protect Medicaid but instead voted for the largest cuts in history. Kiggans spent weeks touting her alleged concerns about Republicans’ plan to gut Medicaid but “folded” and cast a decisive vote for the cuts anyway. Kiggans’ vote is the reason why three health clinics in Virginia have already been forced to close their doors.
• Kiggans folded when she promised to protect clean energy tax credits but instead voted to slash them. Kiggans claimed to be a proponent of clean energy and expressed public concerns about rolling back energy tax credits but “flip-flopped” and voted to take a “sledgehammer” to them instead. Now, Virginia is losing millions of dollars in investment and electricity bills are rising.
• Now, Kiggans is folding again by refusing to buck her own party in order to extend ACA tax credits. Kiggans refused to sign onto a measure that would extend the ACA tax credits for three years even as Virginians’ health care costs are set to skyrocket.
